Under These Restless Skies will be released on February 20, and every day until then, I'll be posting a small excerpt. You can check out the book's blog here, including more excerpts and information on the Tudor historical characters in the story, and the legend of the selkies on which the story is based.

Today's Excerpt:
Will did not temper his words. “Harry, Katharine died last night.” He held out his palm, the
ring lying on it. The messenger had given it to him to show the king as proof of Katharine’s death. A plain gold band with the initials “HK” inside; it never left Katharine’s finger while she was still alive. Henry stared at it for a moment.
Will’s suspicion that Henry’s introspection had been over Katharine’s decline was shattered when Henry’s face split into a grin. He clapped Will on the shoulder. “God be praised!” he said. “We are free from all threat of war.”
Henry slung an arm over Will’s shoulders, and Will had to fight an urge to shrug it off. He had expected at least some show of drere, if only for the two decades Katharine had spent at his side as queen. Regardless of how their lives had turned out, Will had thought that Henry would have some regret for the passing of a kind and loyal woman who had served her nation and her God with equal fervor.
