Today's Excerpt:

“And so the event for which the king has broken a thousand years of tradition and shaken the faith of England to its very core has come to pass— quietly and with little fanfare.”

Will paced as he spoke. “He yet has a wife! I do not know what we just witnessed, why Henry would do such a thing while there has not yet been a ruling on his marriage from the pope or the English Church.”

“Mayhap he knows of something we do not.”

Will shook his head again. “Say nothing of this to anyone, Emma. I do not yet know what will come of it, but we must keep it secret until the king himself spreads the news.”

“Small wonder the king looked so happy,” Emma said, smiling. “Finally, he is getting his heart’s desire.”

“Aye,” Will said, but he did not look happy himself. “I can but hope he feels Anne Boleyn was worth it.”
