Under These Restless Skies will be released on February 20, and every day until then, I'll be posting a small excerpt. You can check out the book's blog here, including more excerpts and information on the Tudor historical characters in the story, and the legend of the selkies on which the story is based.

Today's Excerpt:
Will finally snapped out of whatever shock had stolen his power of motion and walked forward to stand near the king. “My felicitations,” Will told him, and the king smiled in response. Anne leaned down and kissed Emma’s cheek, squeezing Emma’s hands in her own. Emma didn’t know what had happened to make Anne appear so happy, but whatever it was, she was glad to be part of it.
“We may now begin,” the king told the priest, who began reading from a ceremony in his prayer book. Emma had never seen a wedding, so it wasn’t until the vows that she understood what she was witnessing.
“I, King Henry, the eighth of that name, take thee, Anne, to my wedded wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, till death us do part, and thereto I plight thee my troth.”
