Today's Excerpt:

“Pray, Your Grace . . . I beg you, show him mercy. He did not know the meaning of his words. If anything, find the one who taught him to speak them. They are the one who should be punished, not Patch.”

Henry jerked his hand from hers. “Is that so, Madame Fool? You think you can order me? Who is the king of this realm?” He glared down at her, and his face bloomed with that splotchy red of rage. “Speak, or are you dumb as well as foolish? Who is the king of this realm?”

His last words were nearly a scream. Emma shrank back, her face as pale as moonlight. Will started toward her, only to be stopped by George Boleyn gripping his arm. George shook his head.

“You are, Your Majesty,” Emma said. She trembled, but she met the king’s eyes.
“Remember it, or join the fool at the whipping post.” With one last glare, Henry stomped away.
