I'm feeling a great sense of accomplishment.Tonight, I validated my novel and became an official NaNoWriMo winner. See the shiny new badge over at the right? Honestly, I almost feel like printing it out and slapping it on my lapel like an "I Voted Today!" sticker.
The entire novel, which I've tentatively titled Daughter of the Wind and Waves, clocked in at around 60K, but I already had a start before I began NaNoWriMo. I'm estimating I'm at about the half-way point in the story, so I still have a lot of work to do.
This is the first novel that I haven't "pre-written" in my head, and so it makes me very nervous. I finally broke down and got a pre-reader, and she assures me it's a good story, but I worry about ones I've re-written and revised in my head a a dozen times, let alone something I'm working out as I go.
Still, it's a challenge, and I think every writer can benefit from trying new things, if only for the learning experience. NaNoWriMo helped keep me motivated and that's another experience I'm glad I had.
Congratulations!!!! I'm so proud of you!
