"Ghostwriter" is Off to the Printers!

I'm experiencing a mixture of emotions right now. I gave final approval to Ghostwriter's layout, formatting and cover today, so now it's off to the printer.

I feel relieved that it's done. I must have read it a hundred times since I typed the word I always use to end my stories: ~ Finis ~ I thought at that point, it was "done." Little did I know ...

I feel nervous about letting it go. I had to do one final read-over of the manuscript, and even at the eleventh hour (more like 11:59:59) I found a few things to tweak. No major errors, though. At least, I hope not, but as I've discovered , it's almost impossible to spot your own errors. If I had my way, I'd probably be standing in the print shop, moving around the lettering while the printer stood behind me with crossed arms and a tapping foot.

I feel anxious about the reaction it will get from readers. So far, the reviewers have been extremely kind. I suppose, in a way, it's like sending your child off to school for the first time. You're excited, but anxious about what their experience will be. You're proud, but still want to protect "your baby." And just a little bit sentimental, because you know nothing will ever be the same.
